NEWTON LILAVOIS
(Founder and Senior Writer)
Newton Lilavois

Haitian-American writer and publisher, Newton Lilavois, was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and grew up in Brooklyn, New York City. Newton started reading comic books when he was eleven and fell in love with the medium. He loved comics so much that he started drawing his own comics and sold them to classmates. At the same time, his love for computer programming grew and he headed down that career path since it seemed like a more practical profession. But his love of writing and creating was always in the background of his life.

A couple of decades later, Newton decided to pick up where he left off as an eleven year old child. He wanted to create comic books again. In March of 2017, Newton teamed up with artist Gian Carlo Bernal to create the Crescent City Monsters web comic. As his fan base grew Newton launched his first Kickstarter campaign in 2018 to print the first issue. The Kickstarter campaign more than doubled its goal. Since then, it's been an incredible ride up. Newton is the winner of the 2020 Glyph Comic Book Best Writer Award. He continues to raise tens of thousands of dollars in Kickstarter funding and grow his fanbase on the platform.

Newton currently resides in the Bronx with his wife, two daughters, and their chocolate lab. Newton also works full time as a senior consultant for an IT consulting firm.
